On 22nd September 2026, Barista Coffee Lanka marked a landmark achievement for Sri Lanka’s coffee industry with the country’s first-ever NVQ Level 4 Barista Graduation Ceremony, celebrating 17 professionally trained baristas who successfully achieved the nationally recognised qualification.
The milestone reflects a journey that began in 2021, with a commitment to creating structured career pathways for baristas and strengthening professional standards within the industry.
Recognised under the National Vocational Qualification framework by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), the programme has progressed from structured training to NVQ Level 3 and now NVQ Level 4.
The qualification is now open for institutions and academies to provide NVQ Level 4 training, further strengthening barista career pathways and supporting the continued growth of Sri Lanka’s coffee industry.
